October 21, 2015, an international roundtable "Modern Challenges of Political Education and Ensuring Professional Monitoring of Electoral Processes" was held in the conference hall of the Verkhovna Rada
with the participation of experts from the USA, Canada and Ukraine, organized by the Academy of Modern Politics together with the International Commission on Human Rights, which is an international intergovernmental organization in 44 countries of the world.
Ukrainian politics lacks a systematic approach to addressing issues of increasing the state's competitiveness, noted Maria Kolesnyk, a doctoral student at the G.M. Dobrov Institute for Research on Scientific and Technical Potential and History of Science of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and at the same time the head of the project "Academy of Modern Politics" (hereinafter referred to as the ASP). In her opinion, such a situation will be solved not only by the transition of current state administrators to the path of responsible and meaningful reform based on innovative policies, but also by more active involvement in the political life of the country of both representatives of the avant-garde of civil society and ordinary citizens, so that everyone in their place can and should create the future of Ukraine. It is precisely on these aspects that the activities of the ASP are directed.
The keynote speech at the round table was delivered by the Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the State Institution “G.M. Dobrov Institute for Research of Scientific and Technical Potential and History of Science” of the NAS of Ukraine, Vyacheslav Pavlovich Solovyov, revealing aspects of the innovative model of economic development as a component of the political worldview. According to him, in Ukraine, the problems of innovative development are exotic for most citizens, which is why there is a basis for the emergence of contradictions in the implementation of innovation policy at all levels.
At the end of the event, support for the ASP from a group of US congressmen was expressed with planning further cooperation on the development of political education in Ukraine. Also, the participants of the round table began the process of forming a working group to develop a draft government program for the development of political education, the active phase of which is planned from the beginning of 2016, and now everyone can join by sending contacts to comspace.com.ua@gmail.com with the subject of the letter "politosvita".
This event was the final stage of the ASP initiative to train observers for local elections, within the framework of which 1,500 people underwent free training, of which 250 received certificates of official observers and have already started conducting practical work, to support which a contact center for registration and operational processing was created offenses. The project was implemented with the assistance of the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn and Smoloskyp Ukrainy charitable foundations, as well as the public organization Ukrainian Center for Public Data.
