This year, 47 people have graduated from the Internship Program in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, who worked for six months in the secretariats of committees and departments of the Verkhovna Rada.
The internship program in the Verkhovna Rada Apparatus has been operating since 1995. During this time, more than 1,700 people from Ukraine and other countries have become its graduates.
The ceremony was attended by people's deputies, management and employees of the Verkhovna Rada Apparatus, representatives of the USAID Regional Mission in Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kyiv, the USAID RADA Program, the League of Interns NGO, and the Eastern Europe Foundation.
First Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada Administration Petro Bodnar, opening the event, addressed the graduates of the Internship Program and congratulated them on the completion of the internship. P. Bodnar noted that this year 54 interns, representing almost all regions of Ukraine, are completing their six-month training. In addition to them, there are two more interns of the Internship Program for Graduates of Higher Educational Institutions in Germany, who also completed an internship in the Verkhovna Rada Office.
According to the First Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada Staff, the 2018 Program is unique in that in December last year, the Parliament supported the initiative to establish a Verkhovna Rada scholarship for participants in the Internship Program, adopting the relevant Resolution, thanks to which 30 full-time interns received financial support from the Verkhovna Rada throughout the entire internship period.
P. Bodnar is sure that in the future this will serve as a motivation for young people, especially from the regions of Ukraine, to participate in the Internship Program
The First Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada Office summarized that the Internship Program is a kind of conductor for the training and selection of a personnel reserve for further work in the Office. Former graduates work in almost every structural unit of the Office. They demonstrate a decent level of knowledge during the competition for vacant positions.
Deputy Director of the USAID Regional Mission in Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova John Pennell welcomed all those present and emphasized that he was pleased to participate in the closing ceremony of the Internship Program in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for the third year in a row.
According to John Pennell, this year's graduates coped well with their task. Over the past six months, they have had the opportunity to observe how a modern democratic European country is being built. See with their own eyes the positive changes that are taking place. And perhaps, today, they have that in-depth view of the changes that need to be introduced in order for the Ukrainian Parliament to fully represent the interests of Ukrainian citizens and be accountable.
The participants of the event discussed further steps to improve the Internship Program in the Apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, in particular the possibility of legislative regulation of the processes of forming mechanisms for employment of the most successful graduates of the Program on a quota basis.
Congratulations to Anton Koretsky on the successful completion of the internship program in the Office of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
